WEST COAST RIFT: The Dominion leads today with a report that rifts have emerged at the top of the Government over the compensation package offered to the West Coast for the cancellation of beech milling plans.

- EVEREST: a report that a NZ woman who is part of a three-women climbing team all aged in their 50s has left base camp in her attempt to become the oldest female to climb Mt Everest.
