SOLDIER DIES: The body of a New Zealand soldier killed in a road accident in East Timor on ANZAC day is being sent home by UN forces today.
SOLIDIER DIES: Sergeant William White was killed when is UN Truck plunged off an 80 foot drop. Defence personnel blame poor roads for the accident.
ARMY SPENDING: In Gallipoli Helen Clark said the army would be in for a spending boost despite a pending review of military spending. The extra money would likely to come from other sections of the defence forces.
SPENDING REACTION: Her comments have received a mixed response from other political parties. The Greens support Miss Clark’s views but National ACT, and NZ First are critical.
COMMON DOLLAR: There’s a renewed call tonight for the ANZAC spirit to spread with a mooted common currency with Australia popular in a business survey.
EURO DOLLAR: Combining currencies into to one currency is not a new concept with the $ Euro dollar now popular in Europe, despite it’s recent fall.
EURO REACTION: In Parliament, the Alliance is opposed to the deal, while ACT is strongly in favour of adopting the US dollar.
GAY MARRIAGES: The Catholic Church has come out in favour of a similar legal status to Gay “Marriages”, although they continue to oppose Gay couples bringing up children and believe homosexual is still sinful.
