CARD SERVICES CHANGE: About 48,000 more people will qualify for the community services cards after changes are announced this afternoon.
AIR NZ SALE: Brierly Investments has decided not to sell its stake in Air New Zealand after talking to interested buyers. Aussie airline Quantas has indicated it was interested into buying a share to create a Transtasman company.
UGANDAN CULT: Police in Uganda are looking for leaders of a doomsday sect in which hundreds died 7 days ago. More bodies have been found in different places from the church which burnt to the ground in a mass suicide last week.
PUTIN AS PRESIDENT: Vladimir Putin is expected to be inaugurated as the new President in May after his sweeping electoral victory throughout the Russian Federation. Mr Putin says he will appoint a Prime Minister at this time.
ROTORUA STABBING: A man has been charged after a Rotorua policeman was charged six times following a routine call out. The man appeared in a Rotorua district court this morning.
SUPERMARKET LIQUOR: Four Wellington supermarkets are facing strong opposition from local health officers over the right to sell liquor virtually around the clock.
ACC IN COURT: The ACC has told the Court Of Appeal a long time disabled woman should not get compensation payments once she became eligible for National Superannuation.
OIL PRICES: Oil representatives from the United Oil Producing countries are meeting in Vienna to discuss setting production for world oil prices.
PHONE TOWER: The manager of a controversial cell-phone tower in Christchurch say the project is continuing and should be finished soon despite local opposition to the building.
TE PAPA REVIEW: The Government official who appointed a team to review the National Museum of Te Papa has rejected the allegations that the team, which contains members from Auckland institutions, is biased.

KIRSTY BENTLEY INQUIRY: The former head of the Christchurch Police says he is satisfied of how his department reacted to the 1998 disappearance of missing teenager Kirsty Bentley after parents criticised the police for not taking the inquiry seriously.
PHOTO LICENCE: More than 2 million of the new photo drivers licences have been issued with more than 400,000 still to get their new licences.
