HELICOPTER CRASH KILLS FOUR: One the father of a five week old baby. Two were brothers and one was supposed to meet his
girlfriend at the airport.
Four killed in a helicopter crash yesterday. Questions now raised over why it took so long to find the helicopter or
even know it was missing. Policeman says his staff from the crash site think the men died on impact. Air Accident
inspectors were winched in in the afternoon.
26-year-old widow mother, wife of Glenn Phillips a civilian police technician who hated flying in helicopters, is coming
to terms with the death. Fellow pilot says that the hill was dangerous. Girlfriend of another told at the airport.
PETROL: Petrol prices up again. Courier company is upset. In Welllington a small airline has been forced to put up
air-fares. AA says that family life will be changed by the 23cent rise in petrol prices and that less socialising will
happen at weekends. The price of crude has risen from $14 a barrel to $34 dollars as OPEC cut production. Petrol
Companies say they are not enjoying it. Demand will soon increase with Americans on holiday and prices may stay high.
AMERICAS CUP: Auuld Mug in the capital. Parade and party exceeds expectations. Peter Blake says it's great. Peter Blake
says American teams had a dirty tricks brigade. Blake praised Prada for their sportsmanship - so did PM. Prada came
along on the Air Force flight. De Angelis was also very happy with the reception in the capital. Wellington spectators

GEORGINA BEYER: Georgina Beyer has decided to resign from the Mayoralty of Carterton because she is too busy. She will
continue to live in Carterton however.

the job.
BPS: Finance Minister reveals BPS showing plans to spend $3 billion more than the last government would have. Cullen
says money from $5.9 million over three years will go to lots of areas. Focus on the Super Issue. Cullen is proposing a
government super fund. Bill English says that there is no plan that has consensus and that the Government is being
arrogant. Cullen's next worry is Standard and Poor's rating decision which he hopes will be good as the plan shows
fiscal prudence.
