BRITOMART REPLACEMENT: A replacement for Auckland’s Britomart development could cost hundreds of millions of dollars more than expected. The proposed plan for transport high-rise development was dumped by council last year for being to expensive, but a new study shows a new project is $280 million, $210 million up on Britomart.
GUNMAN IN HOUSE: Police have cordoned off streets in the South Auckland town of Pukekoe after gunshots were heard at a house. The Armed Defenders squad is in attendance.
MISSING BOYS: The police in Wanganui have closed off a main bridge to the town and are combing a riverbank nearby as they search for two boys who went missing last night.
DEFENCE SABOTAGED?: The Prime Minister has said she expects the unannounced talks with Australian leaders last week by two National MPs were part of a sabotage plan over Labour’s plans to ditch a deal leasing 28 F16s. However Wayne Mapp, Nationals Defence spokesperson says he and fellow MP Simon Upton were merely meeting with Australian counterparts to introduce themselves.
FINANCE LAWS: Finance Minister Michael Cullen is planning to introduce legislation tightening laws in the share market saying the exchange has under-performed in the last decade.
