the MPs he claims to have seen drunk. In an unusual move, MPs gave him a chance to identify the people under cover of
parliamentary privilege. But he refused to do so.
STARVING YACHT CREWS: There is a split in the Team New Zealand sailing crew - half of them are eating like pigs, the
others are starving. A strict weight regime has been controlling the sailors' appetites in the final buildup to the
first America's Cup match tomorrow.

3 FRIGATE NAVY: Naval planners will no longer work on the basis of a three-frigate fleet, says Defence Minister Mark
Burton. He told an Institute of International Affairs seminar at Victoria University in Wellington that the Government
believed the Defence Force was spread too thinly and the Army, Navy and Air Force were inadequately equipped.
WOMEN’S MAGS: New Zealand women's appetite for celebrity-based magazines continues to shrink. Audited figures for the
six months to the end of December show sales of gossipy magazines such as Woman's Day, the New Zealand Woman's Weekly
and the Australian Women's Weekly have continued to decline over the past year, in favour of titles featuring food,
homes and gardening.
EDITORIAL – ACC: There are few loftier perches in society than that upon which doctors sit. Few begrudge the medical
profession its status, privilege and earnings. Most view the acclaim as fair reward for skills that save lives and make
living a great deal easier. That bounteous goodwill has, however, taken something of a battering lately with the airing
of cases of medical negligence or carelessness. It suffers anew with the Herald's disclosure of details of the ACC
account set up to compensate the victims of misadventure.
