TVNZ: A High Court Judge has ordered TVNZ to hand over more than $5 million to Buddle Finlay, John Hawkesby's lawyers.
CRICKET: Australian cricket team leaks its cricket strategies to the media. Dangers warned of on the Aussie side include egos, complacency and being too cocky. Australians admit that the notes are real. They also reveal that team tactics will include sledging, intimidation and body language. Strengths and weaknesses of NZ players are also analysed. Chris Harris might be a worry, Chris Cairns is NZ's key player.
NANDOR APOLOGISES: Nandor Tanzsos says he is sorry for impugning the reputation of fellow MPs. However he did not name the MPs he said were "drunk in charge of a country". Earlier today a unanimous motion of the house asked Tanzsos to name the MP drunks. Rodney Hide says it is not good enough and he wants names. Nandor says some MPs were drunk at a pre-Christmas press gallery party while the house was sitting.
CHRISTINE RANKIN FRONTS: WINZ boss Christine Rankin fronts up to the media over the student loan processing fiasco. Auckland University finds it has the problems that Canterbury had yesterday. Minister Steve Maharey says he is not satisfied with WINZ's performance. Many parents are likely to get calls from poor kids over next few weeks.
AMERICAS CUP: Team New Zealand has an extra weapon in its arsenal against Prada - fan support. The crew says it wants it supporters out in force on Saturday. Crowd bigger than 20,000 is expected. Lots of room on commercial spectator boats at present. Police warning to private spectator boats. The NIWA weather buoy is back in the water but Team NZ and Prada aren't using it.
AMERICAS CUP: An arbitration panel is meeting to discuss onboard umpires and penalty rule changes wanted by Team NZ. The arbitrators will have to decide because of the disagreement. Team NZ wants onboard umpires - some say they think added weight will make them go faster. On penalty turns the match is expected to lose some of its spectator lustre if boats have to do penalty turns immediately.
TOURIST CRASH:A minivan has crashed on the West Coast of the South Island, three tourists are in hospital.
MICHAEL MOORE: NRL Manager Michael Moore's death through drunkenly jumping into the Viaduct Basin in Auckland will not lead to any charges against bars or restaurants, police say.
INVERCARGILL SHOOTING: Man shot by a policeman when he refused to put down a knife.
ANTIQUE AUCTION: Wellington City Council has auctioned antiques purchased by a former council meter man who may have stolen more than $500,000 in meter money. Auctioneer says that many of the lots were very good quality.
PLANE CRASH: A DC8 air freighter has crashed in the US setting hundreds of cars in a parking lot alight.
POSH SPICE: Posh Spice Victoria Beckham models during London Fashion Week - she has been declared to be in very good shape with "nicely rounded" thighs.
