REFERENDUM CONFUSION: The Dominion leads today with a report that the referendum question at the last election on violent offending was confusing and it was difficult to tell exactly what voters voted for Justice Secretary Colin Keating said yesterday.
TIGERS: The front-page photo shows three Sumatran tiger cubs born at Wellington Zoo last month.

- TRUCK ACCIDENT: a report that a logging truck driver lost his legs and was in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital last night after his truck tipped over on a remote Kaingaroa Forest road yesterday and he was hit by a log;
