Sacking Teachers – WINZ And Student Loans – Northern Ireland – General Pinochet – Samoan Assassination – Lisa Blakie
SACKING TEACHERS: Trevor Mallard says a problem with record keeping in schools is making it difficult to dismiss teachers. There have been reports that many teachers are being moved on without being formally sacked because of the cost of personal grievance procedures. Consequently they are not deregistered and are free to teach elsewhere.

NORTHERN IRELAND: The IRA says it will end its involvement with the arms decommissioning body – it has also said that the Ultster Unionists have only wanted to have disarmament on their own terms.
GENERAL PINOCHET: The British High Court has ruled that Home Secretary Jack Straw will have to hand over medical reports to four states who are requesting General Pinochet’s extradition.
SAMOAN ASSASSINATION: A key witness in Samoan assassination trial has been declared hostile. The shooter has claimed that NZ police extracted his confession
LISA BLAKIE: Police investigating the Lisa Blakie homicide will interview drivers on the Porters Pass road near where Ms Blakie was found.
