MEO RESIGNS: The Governments war with the TVNZ board has claimed its first casualty with TVNZ board Chair Rosanne Meo
quitting one month early. Ms Meo said she left before her time was up because her position was “untenable” while
constant attacks were made against the company. Prime Minister Helen Clark called the move "appropriate" while
opposition MPs said Meo was hounded out of office.
MEO RESIGNS: Rosanne Meo, considered one of New Zealand’s most successful business women, said she resigned after
talking to friends and family. She has served the Television New Zealand board for the past three years. Chairman Rick
Ellis said he was sad to see her go.
MINISTERIAL CAR: There will be a court inquiry into an incident when Alliance MP Sandra Lee’s ministerial car was driven
by a staff member who did not have an up-to-date license.
SCHOOLBOY DROWNING: Another school boy, this time in Auckland, has drowned after getting into difficulty while swimming
on a school camp. His friend is in critical condition in an Auckland hospital. Two days ago, two boys died in
Christchurch also while swimming at camp.
RUGBY PLAYERS: Two Canterbury rugby players were lucky to be alive after a dramatic escape when their car plunged 50
metres into a gorge.
KILLER TORNADOES: At least 22 people were killed and more than 100 injured when tornadoes ripped through housing
developments in America’s southern state of Georgia.
AMERICA’S CUP: Experts are surprised at major differences between competitors Team New Zealand and Prada boat keels in
