TVNZ CHAIR RESIGNS: Acting Chair of the TVNZ board Rosanne Meo has thrown in the towel and TV3 is considering suing

information concerning possible illegal activity by TVNZ and Hawkesby relating to his employment. Questions in
Parliament were avoided by a flustered Marion Hobbs. Hobbs has now released a statement saying thanks and that she

PRESS SEC CHARGED: Sandra Lee's Press Secretary Moana Sinclair, formerly a TV reporter, was driving Lee's self-drive car
when it was impounded at the weekend. Sinclair was stopped twice for speeding and ordered out of the car because she had
not updated her license. The ministerial car has now been returned after Ministerial services paid a towing fee.
HOT OIL: Caltex, Mobil and Shell have been fined $1.2 million for a car wash price fixing action. Caltex has been fined
$450,000, the others less. The Commerce Commission thinks it is the first time in the world that a group of oil
companies have been found guilty of price fixing. Caltex says it is relieved that the fine is not higher.
ANOTHER SCHOOL DROWNING: Children on a school camp in the Coromandel have returned home early following the drowning of
an 11-year-old student from a Howick School. Another boy almost drowned and is now at Starship Hospital. This is the
third drowning of school students in just a few days. Details of what happened is sketchy.
LUCKY ESCAPE: Two rugby players survive a crash 40metres down a gorge on their way home from a game. The pair were
extremely lucky say rescuers and the car was a writeoff.
TORNADOES: At least 19 people killed in the Southern US in the town of Camilla, Georgia. An entire neighbourhood was
flattened by a tornado in just a few minutes.
