PETER ELLIS: A supporter of convicted child abuser Peter Ellis says the office of the Commissioner For Children contributed to the hysteria surrounding the civic creche case. The Commissioner For Children has said Ellis’s release today is likely to bring back trauma for the victims of Ellis. Ellis has always maintained he is innocent.
COCAINE BUST: A NZer is one of three people who have appeared in court in connection with the bust of 500kg of cocaine off the coast of New South Wales. Robert Malone the NZer who sold the yacht says the smugglers appeared genuine.
NORTHERN IRELAND: A report – not yet released – is expected to confirm that the IRA have not started disarming yet. David Trimble says the Unionists will move quickly towards suspension of the Good Friday agreement.
WELLINGTON WATERFRONT: A massive public meeting in Wellington has called for the council to abandon its plans to build lots of buildings on the Waterfront. Mayor Mark Blumsky has called a special meeting of council for next Monday.
COASTGUARD: Coastguard says that many boaties are risking their lives by using cell-phones to call for assistance – rather than marine radio,
