INDONESIA: Indonesia’s President Abdurrachman Wahid has confirmed he will ask his military chief General Wiranto to resign. Meanwhile the UN has also recommended prosecution of Indonesian soldiers. Matt Robson says he wants to encourage democratisation in Indonesia.
HAROLD SHIPMAN: A family doctor from North West England, Harold Shipman, has been found guilty of murdering 15 of his patients. More than 23 more murder charges may be laid.
KENYAN AIR CRASH: Rescuers have abandoned the search for survivors of a Kenyan Airlines airbus which crashed into the sea off the Ivory Coast.

PINOCHET: Moves by the British Government to release the former Chilean Dictator Augusto Pinochet have been backed by the High Court. Belgium and Amnesty International are considering appealing the decision to keep the medical examination records secret.
SCREWDRIVER GANG: The head of the police investigation looking for the Screwdriver Gang say the alleged robbers are in no danger of being shot by police. He says that all the trio have to do is walk into a police station and give themselves up.
