CLARK’S MAORI PLEDGE – Prime Minister Helen Clark will head a new ministerial committee ton closing social and economic gaps between Maori and Pakeha.

-HIV MAN: An HIV infected man who allegedly escaped from a community house where he was being kept in isolation was arrested yesterday in public toilets in Hagley Park.
-BURMA REBELS: Gunmen from a Myanmar guerilla group led by 12 year old twins tormed a Thai hospital uesterday and took up to 500 medical staff and patioents hostage, Thai officials said.
-DOONE DECISION DUE: Today is almost certainly the Peter Doone’s last day as police commissioner, as Cabinet Meets to seal his fate this morning.
-POLLUTION BUSTING POT-PLANTS: Pot-plants make the home or office more attractive but research shows they make no difference in air quality.
-PATIENT ATTACKED: Patients, nurses, mortuary assistants and a receptionist collared a woman who allegedly assaulted a patient and tried to steal her handbag while she waited for treatment at Hutt Hospital on Sunday.
-WELLINGTON FIRED UP: Wellington aimed to beat Otago today before worrying about how they could improve their net run rate going into the final preliminary roun of cricket’s Shell Cup.
-GIVE US A BREAK: The Dominion’s editorial encourages the Government to put into policy legislation encouraging New Zealanders to save for a retirement scheme.
