WAITANGI: Dover Sammuels says the PM has still to decide whether she will attend Waitangi Day celebrations at Waitangi. Sammuels says that Titewhai Harawira’s plan to challenge the PM’s right to speak has galvanised Maori.
CAA: The Aviation Industry Association says it is confident it is working with the CAA to address concerns in a report about CAA competence.
CHECHNYA: Rebel fighters in Chechnya claim to be holding back Russian advances around Grozny. Russian Acting President Vladimir Putin says that his forces will win the war and civilians will not become victims.

WINZ: The government has asked the State Services Commission for a report on a confidential out of court payment made to a staff member of WINZ sacked over the aircraft chartering row.
SMOKING: Director of ASH says she is very positive about the PM’s plans to talk about suing the tobacco industry.
