WHALING PROTESTS: Greenpeace is pleased the government plans to make a strong protest to the Japanese Government. An activist aboard a protest boat in the Southern Sea says that Greenpeace wants the New Zealand Government to take Japan to court.
CHECHNYA: Russian troops are coming under increasing pressure from insurgents in Chechnya. Argun is eerily quiet - Russian's patrol the streets - at the hospital we see five wounded civilians - there is no electricity and almost no medicine and doctors are operating without anaesthetic.
EAST GERMAN JAILED: A 62-year-old East German politician has begun a jail sentence for manslaughter in connection with his part in maintaining a shoot-to-kill policy on the Berlin Wall.
INTERNET CENSORSHIP: Internal Affairs says that the internet is making it harder to stop objectionable material entering the country. IA says finding a balance between personal liberties and the public interest is increasingly difficult.
LYTELLTON PORT: Lytellton Port and Union will today hold talks about the port's plans to contract out coal handling.
MIKE TYSON: Boxer Mike Tyson is being allowed into Great Britain to fight - in spite of his conviction for rape.
