CYCLE CRASH: A spectacular crash has taken five cycles out of the tour of Wellington. Five riders hit a police motorcyle
put there to direct cyclists. Five cyclists taken to hospital. Injured riders have now been discharged from hospital.
FANTASY OUTLAWED: Fantasy GHB has been classified under the Medicines Act. Five overdoses in Christchurch led to the
move. The drug used to be an anaesthetic. Small amounts make you feel intoxicated and drowsy - larger quantities can put
you in a coma. Possession can get you $500 fine and three months in jail now.
DRUGS BILLIONAIRE: The New Zealand Herald has had a small win in its bid to name a drug importing billionaire. In
Otahuhu District Court the Herald has won the right to appeal against the suppression order.
MURDER OF CHILD: 32-year-old man appears in Henderson District court charged with murder of a three-year-old. The man
has interim name suppression.
AVGAS: Civil Aviation Authority has ruled out avgas contamination as the cause of a Christmas morning Cessna crash.
Mechanical failure is thought to have caused the accident. In Australia 5000 aircraft have been grounded as the avgas
problem continues. The cost of the groundings is estimated at $50 million a month and Mobil may have to pay.
