F16S: The Defence Study Centre in Australia says it would be good to carry out a joint defence review with Australia.
Meanwhile David Dickens from the Centre of Strategic Studies says that Australia will think NZ is not pulling its weight
if it does not buy the F16s from the US.
WAITANGI: Activist Titewhai Harawira says that she is happy for Helen Clark to attend Waitangi celebrations - but that
she will challenge her right to speak as protocol has not changed.
MIDDLE EAST PEACE: In Israel two government ministers are threatening to resign if a peace deal with Syria involves the
return of the Golan Heights. Israel is deeply divided on the path to peace. PM Barak says any land for peace deal will
be put to the public in a referendum.
PRODUCER BOARD RESERVES: The Minister of Agriculture says that he is against a proposal that could see hundreds of
millions of dollars returned from Producer Boards to farmers. In briefing papers the Producer Board Project Team
suggested a referendum be held to decide the fate of the reserves.
PINOCHET: The High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson says she supports the extradition of Augusto Pinochet to
Spain on charges of torture and murder.
TIBETAN LLAMA: China has asked India not to offer the 14-year-old Karmapa Llama political asylum.
