DRUG BILLIONAIRE: New Zealand Herald will today apply for leave to overturn a name suppression order granted to a billionaire on drug charges. The editor of the paper says he intends to fight hard as the public has a right to know.
LIBYAN ARMS: Britain is warning Libya about an arms embargo after discovering missile parts en-route to Libya at Gatwick Airport in London.
CHECHNYA: Russia’s acting President Vladimir Putin will allow an aid group into Chechnya says EU President Finland. About 20,000 civilians are believed to be still inside the Chechn capital Grozny.
WAKA SAFETY: A hui has been convened to consider the safety of waka paddlers at Waitangi celebrations following three accidents involving the traditional Maori canoes.
HASTINGS STABBING: A 30-year-old woman will appear in court in Hastings today charged with stabbing a man.
TRIPLETS: A 54-year-old woman in Washington state has given birth to triplets.
WOMAN WITH LOTS OF ANCESTORS DIES: A woman who knew the names of all her 315 direct descendants has died aged 101 in Florida. She had 10 children and 68 grand-children and was born in Columbia.
