The Wellington City Council is set to decide on the future of Wellington’s Waterfront. Mayor Mark Blumsky is urging
Wellingtonians to familiarise themselves with the proposals so, at his invitation, Scoop went to Council and
photographed the Council’s scale model of the proposals involved in Variation 17 of the District Plan.
Though most Wellingtonians will have no idea that development of the waterfront is even on the cards, the scale of
building is likely to shock many. Most people will also be unaware that public submissions are also being called for.
They close in February 2000.
