Greens Ahead By A Nose In Special Vote Race!
According to Scoop sources, with 49 finalised seats in the specials now counted, the Green Party is looking like getting another seat – at Labour’s expense.
The margin is very tight though, with the Greens at this stage ahead of the line by just 200.
That said as they have been doing very well in the specials so far, so it looks likely that the Labour Alliance coalition government will end up needing two Green Votes rather than the one expected. That is Labour and the Alliance will have 59 votes - down from 63 on election night.
Meanwhile National’s Simon Power has won Rangitikei won by 293 votes.
On election night the margin in the seat was only 74 – the smallest in New Zealand. Since then 105 votes have gone missing leading to considerable controversy. Police are still investigating.
And Ikaroa-Rawhiti is still being counted as the election night winner prepares to be sworn in as a Cabinet Minister tomorrow.
The cliff-hanger goes on and on…..
