Prebble Looking Good In Wellington Central – Poll
– A UMR Insight Poll published in yesterday's Evening Post shows support for Wellington Central MP Richard Prebble soaring following National deciding not to stand a candidate in the seat. Prebble’s support has jumped from 30 to 44 per cent, Labour’s Marian Hobbs has risen from 34 to 37 per cent and the Alliance’s Phillida Bunkle dropped one to 11 per cent. Just over half of those who support Bunkle said they would vote for Hobbs if Bunkle withdrew, however even then Hobbs would not have the numbers to defeat Prebble. The poll was of 300 Wellingtonians and has a margin of error of 5.7 per cent. In Wellington Central the Labour Party is on 38 per cent of the party vote, down two, National has risen from 37 to 41 per cent, ACT has risen from eight to ten per cent, the Alliance is down four to eight per cent and NZ First is on three per cent.
