Man shot in Pukekohe, school on lockdown

A school in Pukekohe, south of Auckland, is in lockdown after a man was shot at a nearby house, police say.

Senior Sergeant John Yearbury, of Counties Manukau Police, said police were attending an incident in Pukekohe where a man had recieved a gunshot wound to his leg about 12.40pm.
Efforts were under way to find the shooter, who fled from the Hogan Street address following the incident.
At this stage, police believed the offender was known to the victim.
Paerata Primary School in Pukekohe is currently in lockdown as a precaution.
