Andrew Williams became the second NZ First MP to be ordered from the House in one day after disagreeing with Eric Roy
this evening.
Earlier during Question Time Williams’ Leader Winston Peters was ejected from the Chamber after he took issue with
Speaker David Carter’s rulings on his questions.
Williams fell out with Chair Eric Roy when MPs were debating the committee stage of the Credit Contracts and Financial Services Law Reform Bill.
Williams was defending NZ First’s decision to oppose the bill when Roy asked him to address the part of the bill being
examined, after Williams argued the point Roy terminated the speech and when Williams continued to argue he was ordered
from the House.
The bill completed its committee stage and was reported with amendment with all parties but NZ First voting in favour,
though other parties were unhappy that the Government did not agree to amendments bringing in interest rate caps.
MPs began the committee stage debate on the Vulnerable Children Bill.
Earlier the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Bill completed its third reading by 113 to 7 with NZ First opposed.
