General Support For Members’ Bills

MPs made progress on a number of Members’ bills this evening with all receiving general support.
The Conservation (Natural Heritage Protection) Bill was reported without amendment on a voice vote.
The Summary Offences (Possession of Hand-held Lasers) Amendment Bill completed its first reading on a voice vote and was referred to the Transport and Industrial Relations Committee
The Sentencing (Protection of Children from Criminal Offending) Amendment Bill also completed its first reading on a voice vote and was referred to the Justice and Electoral Committee
Debate on the first reading of the Social Security (Clothing Allowances for Orphans and Unsupported Children) Amendment Bill was interrupted when the House rose at 10pm.
