Published: Wed 18 Sep 2013 10:46 AM
Long serving Labour MP Lianne Dalziel will give her valedictory speech in Parliament this afternoon.
Dalziel will give her final speech after 23 years as an MP and minister at 5.45pm. Her resignation takes effect from October 11 as she contests the Christchurch mayoralty. A by-election will be held to replace her in the Christchurch East seat.
After Question Time and the General Debate, the Government intends to complete the first stage of the Public Safety (Public Protection Orders) Bill, the interrupted committee stage of the Family Court Proceedings Reform Bill and the second reading of the Copyright (Parallel Importing of Films) Amendment Bill.
