Alcohol Debate Set For Late October

Alcohol legislation reform will be debate in Parliament around October 23, Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee told Parliament this afternoon.
When Parliament resumed at 2pm, Brownlee said in the weekly Business Statement that next week the Government would seek to pass the National War Memorial Park (Pukeahu) Empowering Bill, the Customs and Excise (Tobacco Products—Budget Measures) Amendment Bill.
The Government also intends to progress the Lawyers and Conveyancers Amendment Bill, the International Finance Agreements Amendment Bill and the Crown Minerals (Permitting and Crown Land) Bill.
In answer to questions Brownlee said Government would was likely to deal with the committee stage of the alcohol law reform around October 23rd and would seek to do this an orderly fashion with a cut off date for the submission of amendments.
The annual report of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority was tabled.
Select committee reports were presented on the:
Petition 2011/9 of Wal Gordon on behalf of the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Federation NZ and 1227 others by the Social Services Committee
Petition 2011/26 of Steven Winyard by the Social Services Committee.
The Government introduced the Crown Minerals (Permitting and Crown Land) Bill.
Two Members’ Bills were introduced:
Electricity (Renewable Preference) Amendment Bill Charles Chauvel
Conservation Natural Heritage Protection Bill Jacqui Dean
MPs began Question Time.
