Scoop Images: Second SAS Death In Afghanistan Announced
Images of the press conference will be added soon.
The Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the Defence Force today held a press conference to announce the death of an SAS soldier serving in Afghanistan.
There will be a 24 hour delay before releasing the soldier's name to allow family to be notified.
The NZSAS were assisting Afghan forces preparing to execute a warrant when they were attacked. The action began at around 9am NZ time and was ongoing at the time of the press conference. More details about the fighting will be released after it concludes.
