It’s now official. The Prime Minister’s office has confirmed another community rumour regarding the meetings with key players connected to Pacific Economic Development Agency Ltd and the government budget appropriation of $4.8 million. They don’t say it in those words.
But at least one or two of those who were at the meeting at the Columbus Cafe in Onehunga openly boasted sometime ago to others of their close friendship with John Key, their meetings, and later boasted of the $4.8 million of taxpayer funding.
But there was nothing on paper, as least publicly, to confirm it. Until now.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Bill English and Pacific Affairs Minister Georgina te Heuheu have denied any such appropriation to Pacific Economic Development Agency Ltd, even though the Budget schedule shows it.
