Scoop Audio: Audio on Demand of NZ Prime Minister John Key's press conference today. He was accompanied in the first part of the press conference by Health Minister Tony Ryall.
The Prime Minister announced a decision to purchase Swine Flu vaccine at a cost of "some millions of dollars" for 142,000 front line workers including police, fire service staff, nurses and doctors. The vaccine will not be available for use till December at the earliest due to licensing requirements and the PM will not be having a shot himself.
Also discussed in the press conference were: The Auckland Super-City consultation, the Government response to the Seabed and Foreshore Act review, the Reserve Bank's report on interest rates, Richard Worth (the PM said nothing), the PM's Pacific tour next week, and teacher aid resourcing issues raised in the Dominion Post newspaper this morning.
