So that was it, poppets! The most noticeable contrast with the Democratic National Convention was between the flags given out to Obama supporters and the chants of USA! USA! by the Republicans in lieu of flag-waving. When chanted, USA has the same cadence as Obama’s Yes We Can. And at the RNC, the song “Everyday People” was trotted out at every opportunity, including immediately after the convention was officially declared closed, but they mocked the work that everyday people do as part of communities organizing to better their lives.
Just to cheer up the Obama supporters among you and help you gather strength for the nasty fight ahead, here is video of the closing of the convention in Denver, which I finally successfully uploaded.
