New Zealand is now considered an ally, and the US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice said: "On proliferation matters like Iran, like North Korea, we can always count on New Zealand to be a strong voice for reason, a strong voice for adherence to IAEA requirements and to UN security council requirements."
