Around 9am this morning the convoy of trucks that had processed around central Wellington began turning into Bowen Street to pass well within honking distance of the Beehive.
The truckies were taking part in a nationwide protest against an increase in the road user charge for diesel vehicles.
Actual trucks aside, the Wellington streets were calm in the pleasantly sunny weather. The background noise of horns was compensated for by the reduced volume of car commuters.
