12:20 Supervising Abortion – whose job?
A High Court decision released yesterday has questioned the lawfulness of many abortions. Pro-life groups are trumpeting the judgment as a victory, saying it confirms that the Abortion Supervisory Committee is not monitoring practitioners as well as it should be. We will take a look into abortion law and the supervisory committee's functions with Family Planning Chief Executive Jackie Edmond, and question whether the judgment will have any impact on the way practitioners operate.
12:40 Bean good?
Kim is a self-confessed coffee nut (not addict, mind…), and she took great pleasure in attending the New Zealand Coffee Festival in the weekend. There she interviewed coffee-roasting guru 'Instaurator' about the ins and outs of roasting a good blend. He has some surprising views on why local, boutique roasters may not necessarily be producing the best coffees.
1:00 Brewing justice?
BP's Wild Bean café announced yesterday that as of today, 100% of the coffee in its 78 stores nationwide will be Fairtrade. What is behind the big, bad multinational's move towards social responsibility? Kim will be talking to Steve Knapp, director of the Fairtrade Association of NZ, who will also have details of the coffee documentary Black Gold, screening for free this week at Rialto Newmarket.
1:40 The Green Desk
Sustainable Simon Miller talks to Francesca Price, editor of Good Magazine, New Zealand's first carbon-neutral magazine.
Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial.
