Karbala: A Symbol of First Ever Islamic Terrorism
In fact the month of Moharram is the first month, according to the Islamic calendar. But in this month of Moharram, a
bloody game of terrorism & cruelty was played 1369 years ago in Karbala (Iraq), by a Muslim king that has made the Islamic world to start this new
year of Moharram month not as a celebration but as mourning. All the people from the Islamic world give a sorrowful
tribute to martyr of Karbala, Hazrat Imam Husain & at the same time they condemn the Syrian king Yazid, who had killed Hazrat Imam Husain a maternal grand son of Prophet
Mohammad along with the other 72 relatives. It was done 1369 years ago in the Karbla ground on the bank of river Furaat.
As they were killed in searching heat of the Sun, keeping them hungry & thirsty & thus started the first terrorism of Islam.
It is a matter of sorrow that a blot started on the Islam even at the time of the founder of Islam, Prophet Mohammad.
Prophet Mohammad expected from the followers of Islam to follow & bow before only one that is God, to have good character, to be pious, to have feelings of love, harmony & cooperation for one another, to be donator & to be away from cunningness, bad character & lie. They are not expected to keep a bad eye on the wealth of others, shouldn’t indulge in gambling, drinking & other bad habits. Prophet Mohammad counted only those people in the class of the true Muslims that had the above
qualities. These were the directions that he gave to his followers. So his dear & near ones considered it their duty to act upon his directions & follow the same principles as given by him.
On the other side, at some distance from the centre of the birth place of the Islam, Makka (Arabia), there was a country
named ‘Sham (seria).’ There ruled a king named Muavia. Yazid, the son of Muavia took over the throne after the death of
his father. He had all the bad qualities in him. It was the first black day in the history of the Islam when a cruel
king like Yazid took powers in his hand. He was corrupt & man of bad character. It was the family of Prophet Mohammad that first of all for the sake of protection of Islam that
was founded by Prophet Mohammad & for not accepting a cruel king like Yazid as an Islamic states king, refused to recognize him as an Islamic states
king. This was the reason because of which there was a bloody event in the ground of Karbla on 10th Moharram.
A cruel act of history was created in the ground of Karbla by the soldiers & military officers of Yazid that is unmatched. Yazid felt proud to molest his slave women even that of the old age & his sisters & daughters too. He felt pleasure in false reading of Namaaz while he was under the influence of drinks. Hazrat Imam
Husain & all the family of Prophet Mohammad knew very well about the bad character of Yazid. The bad character of Yazid was
common not only in the family of Prophet Mohammad but in the entire Islamic world. The Islamic world was looking it as a
bad omen when there was a ruler like Yazid. It was not possible for Prophet Mohammad’s nephew Hazrat Ali & Fatima’s son Hazrat Husain to accept a cruel, wicked & bad character man like Yazid as a ruler of the Islamic country.
Hazrat Imam Husain refused to accept Yazid as a Muslim ruler of Sham (Syria). This refusal of Hazrat Husain became a
reason for the sorrowful event of Karbla. It was also a reason for the martyrdom of the family of Prophet Mohammad, for
the protection of Islam. History stands witness that on 10th Moharram, in Karbla the soldiers of Yazid, killed 6 months
old Ali Asghar, son of Hazrat Husain & Ali Akbar, who was an 18 year old young son & even an old man of 80 years Habib Ibne Mazahir. Historians tell that the event of Karbla happened in the month of May.
One can easily think of the heat of May in Iraq. Even today the temperature remains above 50 degrees in the summer. It
is heard that at the time of event of Karbla the heat wave was at full strength & the sandy soil on the bank of rive Furaat was giving heat like a furnace. At that time, the canopies of Hazrat Husain & his 72 companions were forcibly removed from the bank of river Furaat by the soldiers of Yazid. Not only this, they
were not allowed to take the river water for three days. The 72 persons that came for martyrdom for Hazrat Imam Husain
had in them the infants & even old women & Zainul Aabdeen, a son of Hazrat Husain who was passing through a phase of illness.
That cruel ruler Yazid didn’t take pity on anybody. It hadn’t remained up to a killing of the family of Prophet
Mohammad. But Yazid did that thing in Karbla that is quite horrible even today. After killing Hazrat Imam Husain & his male companions, Yazid ordered to arrest the women in the family of Hazrat Imam Husain. They were tied with ropes
on their arms & were made to walk unveiled. On the front of that, the heads of Hazrat Imam Husain, his sons & heads of other martyrs were hung on the swords. A four year old daughter of Hazrat Husain, Sakina was put & tortured in prison where she died. It was a matter of surprise that while the Islamic world was pained at it & questioning the acceptance of Yazid as a Muslim ruler whereas Yazid was trying to influence the people that he was
victorious over the persons who dared to revolt against the emperor like Yazid. On one side, there was a hue & cry in the markets of Syria, on the martyrdom of Hazrat Husain & his family members & on the other side, Yazid was making merry & drinking in his court.
Anyhow 1369 years have gone since this event happened. The Islam has become the second largest community in world
because of the valuable martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Husain & his relatives. But it is a bitter truth that Yazidism is also present everywhere. Yazidism as the terrorism is trying
to disturb the world peace. It is not wrong to say that to finish the Yazidism; we feel a strong need of the Husainism.
It means not to bow before terrorism, need to strike at it, need not to give it shelter or encouragement & need to oppose it at every step. And if the need arises, to be ready to sacrifice life for it. The feeling of Husainism
can save the Islam from the blot that is being sticked over it. Otherwise the Yazidism, in the form of terrorism is
ready to swallow the Islam just as 1369 years ago; an attempt was made to hurt Islam, in the ground of Karbla by the
Yazidi thoughts.
