Obama Pulls Even with Clinton Nationally and Opens Up Wide Polling Lead in South Carolina
BuzzFlash reports that as the South Carolina primary nears, a late-breaking Survey USA poll shows Barack Obama with a 20 point lead in that Southern state - even before the New Hampshire voting is finished. (The
South Carolina primary for Democrats will be held on January 26 and for Republicans on January 19.) In the Survey USA
Poll, Obama is at 50%, Clinton at 30%, and Edwards at 16%.
A just-released Rasmussen poll for South Carolina allocates the potential vote at 42% for Obama, 30% for Clinton, and 14% for Edwards.
In addition, Clinton has long led her opponents in the national polls. But that appears to have changed significantly. A USAToday/Gallup poll indicates that the Obama "wave" is breaking out of the early states and starting to impact the national polls, where
Clinton has long led both Obama and Edwards. Indeed, Obama has pulled even in the USA Today/Gallup poll, tied at 33%
with Clinton. Edwards is at 20%.
