Scoop brings the images of the Wellington protest against the Electoral Finance Bill to our readers in glorious sepia tones. Should this Bill go through no doubt many of the people on a rather small (100 people) protest march in Wellington today no doubt consider NZ will become a state not unlike that found in the great movie 1984 (John Hurt version with Eurythmics soundtrack). The protest seemed to have been MC'ed by Mr David Farrar famous for his Kiwiblog web site.

In keeping with the spirit of free speech the organisers gave Green Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons a chance to 'rock the mic'.
Ms Fitzsimons asked the assembled pakeha mini-hikoi against the Electoral Finance Bill if they wanted to see a system such as the United States has where only those with millions get to participate in democracy. Ms Fitzsimons obviously found this prospect alarming however for many of the smartly suited marchers the answer would have been 'Of Course we do – that's why we are here!'
