Nigeria: Militants Campaign Against PDP

NIGER Delta militants, using the alleged travails of their detained Leader, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, are currently calling on the peoples of the oil and gas region to dump the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the April 14 and 21 polls.
Field Commander of the militias, General Umar Suku Amachree and their Sokesperson, Cynthia Whyte, said the call in a wired statement to media houses around the world on Tuesday. The statement, however, reads:
''On behalf of our patriotic and esteemed leader, Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari and all the heroic combatants who today lead the agitation for a progressive Niger Delta, the Central Command of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF) hereby call on all Niger Deltans not to cast their votes for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP has over the last eight years brought out the worst in our people. They encouraged the build up of cultism in the Niger Delta states especially in Rivers State. They encouraged and motivated our young people to carry arms and promoted prostitution amongst our young women.
The PDP government in Rivers State has abused the coffers of Rivers State and embezzled billions of Naira meant for the development and advancement of the quality of life of the Rivers man and child. The Rivers State Gas Turbine Project remains the most vivid example of executive corruption, fraud and wickedness. Months after its commissioning by the maximum ruler of the Nigerian state, the people of Rivers state continue to remain in darkness.
We call on all good people of the Niger Delta to endorse candidates of parties who have the development of their people in their minds. We must not allow ourselves to be deceived again. We must not allow ourselves to be made beggars in our land anymore. We must all come out and reject the dubious and satanic PDP government who think they can use the resources of state to undermine our heritage.
We call on all heroic combatants of the Niger Delta to come out in force and monitor the progress of the elections in their various states and communities. We have been bitten before. It must not be allowed to happen again.
We commend the resilience of those who have offered themselves to serve their people in parties other than the PDP. Most of all, we wish to commend the AC candidate for Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill. A graduate of the prestigious Imperial College London and a professional who has distinguished himself in his profession in many continents of the world, we believe Tonye Princewill is a far better and much more intelligent material for the governoship of Rivers State.
The struggle continues.
