Disturbed Iraq. Why?
By Tanveer Jafri
American army & its allies have completed four years of its presence in Iraq & have entered into fifth year. During this period, since the elimination of the Bath Party of Saddam Husain to the hanging of Saddam, America has completed its secret mission. These were such aims reached by America that were not brought to open before attacking Iraq. The greatest widely put allegation again Saddam by America was that he had a store of chemical weapons that can cause a good deal of human destruction. Four years have past, when Saddam lost his rule. Since these four years, Iraq is under American Military Control. But till now, those chemical weapons have not been traced, about which the Bush administration has mislead the world.
About Dujail massacre, Iraqi court, working according to the hidden desire of America, got Saddam Hussain hanged. Undoubtedly Saddam was a cruel ruler. To remain in power, he didn't spare any person, even killed his son-in-laws, who were doubted to dethrone him. By getting Saddam hanged, America has tried to convince Shiites in Iraq that America helped them to get justice, whereas it, by the hidden aim of getting justice for them, has made a planned conspiracy to deepen the already existing ditch between the two communities of the Muslims namely the Shia & the Sunni.
The Bush administration in America is trying to tell the world that America has helped the Iraqi people to get rid of the cruel dictator Saddam Hussain. Regarding the store of chemical weapons, America is neither saying anything nor feeling its mistake for it. There is also silence about the extraction of oil resources in Iraq under the American army control. And even America is not making its secret plans, to public regarding the future of Iraq. The result of all this is that today Iraqi people, may be from the Shia or the Kurd communities of Iraq, are feeling themselves more insecure than they were under the Saddam's rule. Undoubtedly after the rule of Saddam Hussain, the tension between the Shiites & the Sunnis has increased. After the dethronement of the Sunni ruler Saddam, the fear that the power will go in the hands of the Shia community, so it has made the Sunnis restless. The hanging of Saddam has increased the fear in their minds. Now the circumstances are, Iran, which has the majority of the Shiites, wants to see its neighbour country Iraq as a Shia nation whereas most of the countries of the Arab world that have majority of the Sunnis don't want to accept easily Iraq in this form.
Iraqi public is being badly ground in between the international politics. Now who stands responsible for this bad condition of Iraq & the Iraqis? In the last days, there was a joint wide survey in Iraq by the American media organisation ABC & a reputed news agency BBC. The results of this survey clearly reveal that Iraqi people, dismissing the American claims by America for establishing democracy in Iraq are putting all the responsibility on the American armies & its allies for all the problems that have stood in its way. This survey also reveals that 82% of Iraqi population don't have trust in the American led armies. Regarding the insecurity among the Iraqi people, 80% of them feel that they are always afraid of it that they can fall prey to violence anywhere at any time.
Rejecting the American claim of giving the Iraqis a democratic government, Iraqi citizens are now disappointed about the future of their country. Undoubtedly the Iraqi public is divided on the basis of religion, change of rule & hanging of Saddam Hussain but in spite of it 56% Iraqis don't accept that there is a situation like a civil war in Iraq. What the Bush administration in America is planning about the political future of Iraq, can't be imagined but 58% of the Iraqis don't want to see Iraq divided on the basis of religion. Today Iraqi public is struggling for the daily needs such as electricity, drinking water & fuel etc. Most of the Iraqis are taking their lives as dull & uncomfortable. The law & order situation has become worse than it was in 2005.
Where the Iraqis are considering the American army responsible for this fearful situation, but the Bush administration is in a fix on this issue. On the Iraq issue, the Bush administration is not only facing the opposition & anger of the Iraqi public but the entire world seems annoyed with America because of its Iraq policy. Even in America & Britain itself, the Iraq policy is being heavily opposed. On every annual day of attack on Iraq by America, every year in America, there is shown a great resentment by the American public. The American public also demands the return of the American army from Iraq. At the same time, Iraqi public also demands that the American allied forces should leave Iraq at the earliest. But the Bush administration, which is self styled sympathizer of Iraqi people, seems to be acting on its plan of staying in Iraq for a long time by scaring them of the civil war in Iraq.
In the last days, the House of Representatives, a part of the American Parliament, has voted in favour of calling back of the American army from Iraq by September 1908. Whereas on its reaction, President Bush has stated that if that resolution came to him, he would veto it. George Bush thinks that by the declaration of date of return of the American forces, may be a delay in essential supply to the American soldiers who are on the fronts. He says that the result of the fresh military strategy will come out within a few months but not within a few days or a few weeks.
No one can imagine what President Bush is saying or doing & what does it mean. But it is imaginable that wrong statements of George Bush & his secret plans of dethroning Saddam Hussain has enabled the Iraqi citizens to face these critical days. Previously the Iraqi people couldn't have imagined it. Unfortunately the Iraqi people are unaware of the fact that when these critical days would end. Now the question is quite justified that who is responsible for the present bad circumstances in Iraq? The former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussain or American President George W. Bush himself?
