Fiji Crisis: Military Makes Move - Takes Over Special Branch Police HQ
Scoop Link: Fiji Times has reported that Fijian Army soldiers in full combat gear have taken over the headquarters of the Fiji Police Tactical Response Division, removing guns and ammunition, and locking out members on duty. And FijiLive.com reports: several twin-cab vans carrying armed soldiers arrived at the premises after a briefing at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua and the Force Training Group in Makoi. See... Health: More Money For Rural Midwives
The Labour-led government will invest $2 million per year from 2007 to support the rural midwifery workforce, Associate Minister of Health Damien O'Connor announced today. The money will be allocated to rural midwives via the rural ranking scale – in much the same way as rural funding is allocated to rural GPs, Mr O'Connor said. See...
