Politics News: Brash Resigns From Parliament – Gone By Christmas
Scoop News: Former National Party Leader Don Brash has announced he will resign from Parliament, vacating his office when Parliament closes for Christmas/New Year recess. Brash told reporters this afternoon that he had talked to friends, colleagues and family before deciding it was now time for him to leave Parliament. Export: 2006, Year Of The Veteran, Moves Towards Export Year 2007
Prime Minister Helen Clark today announced a $33.75 million boost to the Market Development Assistance Scheme which supports New Zealand exporters breaking into offshore markets. This funding boost is a key feature of Export Year 2007, which is also being formally launched at the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Export Awards tonight. See... Prisons: Turia Accuses Corrections Of Political Correctness
Tariana Turia today expressed concern at yet more Government cuts to Maori services. Mrs Turia was alarmed to learn the Department of Corrections has pulled the majority of programmes outlined in the strategy to "include and engage Maori whanau and hapu". "The Department seems to have been spending all their time on an elaborate branding exercise to dream up Maori names for their prisons, while at the same time sacrificing real projects that could assist whanau and hapu in supporting Maori inmates."
