This afternoon the assembled media that gathers to interact with the Prime Minister was given a briefing on the upcoming Pacific Islands forum. On the agenda in Fiji this weekend is apparently plenty of Solomon Islands related issues such as the ongoing role of the Regional Assistance Mission (RAMSI), the expulsion of the Australian High Commissioner from Honiara and a recent inflammatory speech given by the Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.
As well as close-to-home foreign affairs two perennial favourites of the media for 2006, the ongoing sagas of Mangere MP Taito Philip Field and his assistance to foreign worker's – namely a Thai national with a penchant for tiling MPs houses - and the recent Auditor-General's report into parliamentary spending were also canvassed.
