Terrorism Threatens Innocent Lives And Peace
By Kamala Sarup
I'm very sad about terrorism in Middle East, South Asia, including in Nepal and recent terrorist attack in Mumbai.
Terrorism is getting global threat for innocent lives.
Working on peace and wish I to stop this barbarism. A bloodbath is coming unless stopped. Things very fluid on ground. So much horror happening and all suppressed in the media. I'm so outraged as people suffer because of terrorism and war.
How innocent people have been exploited and had to fight for every peaceful right they now do not have in some countries.
Our struggles are no different than those of all other groups fighting for peace and fighting against terrorism, injustice and war.
We must get organized, have good leaders, make good plans and follow through without letup. That's how all great battles are won. That's how we can win the war against terrorism.
Things have to be taken from our action, and I believe in doing it without violence which I support. Mass street protests can work if done right.
Terror Attack Continue
1. Secretary-General Kofi Annan was "appalled by the brutal and callous bombings" of trains in Mumbai, India, and said today that such acts confirm that terrorism constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security. The bombings, which reportedly killed more than 200 people and injured nearly 500, along with grenade attacks in Srinagar which killed at least eight people, "increase the urgency of coordinated action by all countries to defeat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, committed by whomever, whenever, wherever and for whatever purpose," Mr. Annan said through a statement released by his spokesperson. 2. In the efforts to fight terrorism in the long run, it is important to focus on the general as well as root causes of terrorism. As the reasons for terrorism and conflict often are similar, the ways to prevent these negative and often devastating forces are also analogous. Hence the work for peace, development and state building is in several ways a useful contribution to prevent terrorism. Similarly, the peaceful resolution of violent conflicts, combined with peace- and state-building, may also contribute to increased cooperation and solidarity within the broad international coalition against terrorism.(Source:trainingforpeace.org, 2006.)
3. "It becomes ever more important to work together for peace when confronting the situations of injustice and violence that continue to oppress various parts of the world, those that are the new and most insidious threats to peace: terrorism, nihilism and fanatic fundamentalism." - (Pope Benedict XVI, 2006)
4. In the worst case of Nepal's civil war, at least 34 civilians and three off-duty soldiers were killed and a further 71 people injured when a crowded bus was torn apart by a roadside bomb in Chitawan on 6th of June 2004. There were more than 100 passengers on the bus, many of whom were sitting on the roof, when the bomb exploded. The Maoists, who are fighting to establish a communist republic, have frequently disrupted road transport. Since they launched their revolution in 1996, more than 15,000 people have died, including 10,000 since the end of 2001 when the war escalated. (Source:07-Jun-05 news.scotsman.com)
The Cause Of Terrorism and War
We should reject war, terrorism and strongly supports the peace and justice. We must try to remove terrorism from the earth.
The simple answer to restoring order and peace is to respect the rights of all the people, sit down with people and begin to make changes that have real meaning.
Terrorists and war groups will never accept a political solution and will never give people anything more than isolated deaths and no rights.
Problem with war and terrorism has nothing to do with peace and justice. It's that people won't bow to terrorists demands and really wants to help the peace.
And also we should not forget peace should not be a fraud and hoax. I hope that the peace will govern in a way that benefits all people.
Terrorism kills people, although those people who are not directly involved. War and terrorism redirects money from people pursuits to war pursuits, so the people suffers.
The terrorism and war impairs the overall economy of the population; that is, more people suffer than benefit.
