Yesterday a flotilla of top brass from the Labour Party, including the Prime Minister, visited Turangawaewae Marae to honour the 40th anniversary of the coronation of the Maori Queen.
Because of this regal visit the Prime Minister did not have her regular Monday afternoon post cabinet press conference. However on the way to Labour's caucus this morning the PM gave assorted members of the press her views on a number of recent happenings including;
Communications Minister David Cunliffe's current scrapes over comments he made to the Bloomberg news agency regarding Telecom.
Transport Safety Minister Harry Duynhoven's current illness (Labour MP Darren Hughes is the go to man for Mr Duynhoven's latest condition evidently).
The recent front page lead story in the Sunday Star-Times which claimed that a former prime ministerial staffer undertsood a number of Labour MP's were going to be forced into retirement. According to the PM the former staffer worked for Mike Moore in 1990 - for two months – a fact that seems to have been ommitted or subbed out from the SST story.
