Scoop Audio: Dr John Roughan, originally from New York, has resided in Honiara for the past 48 years. He is an active member of civil society in the Solomon Islands and a vocal commenter. He also runs the Solomon Islands Development Trust. In this audio interview, he discusses his reaction to the resignation of Snyder Rini (that morning) and on the riots. Additionally, he gives some background to Solomon Islands politics and society in general, emphasising that the fabric of society in most villages remains intact and that the Solomons are not the ‘basket case’ that some claim.
