Palestine Will Not Bow to Anyone But Allah
By Genevieve Cora Fraser
Olives, thyme and olive
Oil to lubricate and heat
To fire the hearts
Of Palestine
To be free
Ismael spoke
Of the strangling
Economic crisis
The starvation
They faced as the price
Of freedom from their oppressors
Thyme, olive oil and olives
Give strength
When taken in the morning
To resist the Occupation
To resist
The quisling official
Willing to sell
Their freedom
For a price
Which enemy is worse
Israel the sadistic occupier
Or the leader
Their president
Abbas who boasts
Of his power
To undo, to dissolve
The Hamas government
The will of the people
That spoke
Not by bullets
But by ballots
Collecting thyme
Is now a crime
Israel imposes
A fine on thyme
Picked and eaten
Like bread and wine
A holy communion
Of the People
Hamas stands
For Palestine
For a just peace
Or no peace
The consequences of starvation
Rests on the shoulders
Of those governments
That have washed
Their hands
As they gloat with disdain
Judgment will be on them
And their children
As God is a witness
God knows I have
Informed you
We will eat thyme
Salt and olives
But we will never bow
Our heads for anyone
Except for Allah
Haniyeh said
To the People
Gathered
In the square
After Friday
Prayers
ENDS
