- Linda Clark is to leave National Radio’s Nine To Noon programme in March after presenting the high profile show for

Brownlee: Green Jobs "Another Chink In The Constitutional Armour" -
National's Deputy leader Gerry Brownlee has been hounding the Government and the Green Party over arrangements for Green
Party liaison positions. Scoop got in touch with Mr Brownlee in an effort to discover why he was hot under the collar
over the Green job opportunities. See... Brownlee Explains National Vs Greens Scrap [1] ALSO:National - Extra tax subsidy for Greens must end [2]
Whaling: Paul Buchanan on NZ and the Whalers
- The New Zealand response is problematic for several reasons. Like it or not, this increasingly violent dispute is a
political issue foremost, and governments are already involved. Not only is the scientific whaling project funded in
part by the Japanese government, and the New Zealand government wholly opposed to it. See... Medical: Fourth MeNZB Dose Approved for Youngest Children
- A 4th dose of the MeNZB vaccine is being introduced for all babies who received their 1st dose before they were six
months old. This follows medicines regulator Medsafe granting approval for a 4th dose of the vaccine to be administered
to babies, the age group at greatest risk from the country's group B meningococcal epidemic. A 4th dose was signalled as
likely when the vaccine was first licensed for young babies. See... Extra protection for babies with 4th MeNZB dose [1] ALSO:National - Full information needed to enhance confidence [2]
Wildlife: Kiwi Battles For The Bears -
Auckland born vet nurse, Tracey Hampton 28, will be speaking about her experience working with bears rescued from
Chinese bile farms at a public talk this Saturday at Parnell Conference Centre. Tracey spent 13 months working at the
Sanctuary in Chengdu run by the Hong Kong based charity, Animals Asia Foundation, who has undertaken to end the barbaric
practice of bile farming and ultimately rescue 7,000 bears. See... NZ Vet Nurse And The Worlds Largest Bear Rescue [1]
YOU SAID IT! Dr Brash's Anti Racism Message Gets Short Shrift From A Reader
- "You might recall during the electoral campaign in which you described New Zealander's as either 'iwi' or 'kiwi'.
Never mind the pain or hurt you caused many people, most of all we citizens of New Zealand who are of Maori descent.
Somehow in your limited thinking you promoted the view that because we 'citizens' were less than being 'mainstream' or
even a New Zealander, didn't justify us being embraced or referred to as being 'Kiwis'." See... Scoop Feedback: Christmas Leftovers [1]
Scoop Report: Figures Reveal Expensive Campaign To Portray Labour As Spendthrifts -
In the battle for the hearts and minds of the New Zealand voter in 2005 National spent in excess of two million dollars.
According to figures that have just become available at the Electoral Commission National spent $2,128,028 (incl GST) on
election advertising for the 2005 election campaign. National's biggest single expense by far in the 2005 campaign was
Billboard rental. See... National Pushes Limits Of Campaign Spending [1] ALSO:Kevin List -Level Playing Field For Candidates Disappears [2]

Greenpeace to 'Coal Pact': Prove how you'll reduce emissions
- US and Australian delegates attending today’s Asia-Pacific climate conference in Sydney are trying to ‘hoodwink’ the
public by claiming that voluntary agreements to make coal cleaner would be all we need to tackle climate change,
Greenpeace said today. Greenpeace clean energy campaign leader, Catherine Fitzpatrick, said “It appears that, as we had
feared, this conference is all about protecting the coal industry and not about taking serious action to tackle climate
change. See... Greenpeace to 'Coal Pact': Prove how you'll reduce emissions [1] ALSO:Tackle climate change and save the whales [2] Howard lacks courage to tackle climate change [3] Nuclear focus at Asia-Pacific climate pact meeting [4]

Iranian nation determined to defend nuclear right
- Underlining that Iran calls for justice for the whole world, the president said that Iran will neither overlook its
legal right nor allow the enemies to deprive it of such a right. Concerning Palestine, Ahmadinejad said that a number of
occupiers have been shedding blood in this land for about 60 years, while others with unknown whereabouts assassinate
the innocent Palestinians. See... Iranian nation determined to defend nuclear right [1] ALSO:Iran: UN concern, removal of seals on uranium site [2] Australia Condemns Iran's Latest Nuclear Steps [3]

Stephen Knight: Balancing Trade and Environment
- Frustratingly, freeing up global trade also increases the risk of increasing rates of climate change and further
reductions in global and local biodiversity. To avoid this risk, the three need to be tied together during
decision-making. To a limited extent they are at a research and analysis level, such as with investment in sustainable
farming. See... Trade, biodiversity and climate change [1]
Public Address: Christie of London
- The thing about writing anything about London, is it's all been written before. Usually by people a lot smarter and
more astute than me. Or should that be I? (Better sort that one out before me head to Oxford on Thursday.) But anyway, a
few brief observations about the trip thus far... See... Public Address 12/01/06 - Dirty Ol' Town [1]
Scoop Full Coverage: The NSA Domestic Spying Scandal
- 2006 began with Mr. Bush brazenly insisting that he can unilaterally order wiretaps on American citizens without
judicial oversight, even if warrantless domestic wiretaps are explicitly prohibited by federal law. Under what
rationale? Mr. Bush claims the virtually unlimited presidential power to override any laws, and even to cancel our
constitutionally-guaranteed civil liberties, because the US is at war. See... E.A.
