Not only is the scientific whaling project funded in part by the Japanese government, and the New Zealand government wholly opposed to it. See... YOU SAID IT! Dr Brash's Anti Racism Message Gets Short Shrift From A Reader
- "You might recall during the electoral campaign in which you described New Zealander's as either 'iwi' or 'kiwi'. Never mind the pain or hurt you caused many people, most of all we citizens of New Zealand who are of Maori descent. Somehow in your limited thinking you promoted the view that because we 'citizens' were less than being 'mainstream' or even a New Zealander, didn't justify us being embraced or referred to as being 'Kiwis'." Greenpeace to 'Coal Pact': Prove how you'll reduce emissions
- US and Australian delegates attending today’s Asia-Pacific climate conference in Sydney are trying to ‘hoodwink’ the public by claiming that voluntary agreements to make coal cleaner would be all we need to tackle climate change, Greenpeace said today. Greenpeace clean energy campaign leader, Catherine Fitzpatrick, said “It appears that, as we had feared, this conference is all about protecting the coal industry and not about taking serious action to tackle climate change. Iranian nation determined to defend nuclear right
- Underlining that Iran calls for justice for the whole world, the president said that Iran will neither overlook its legal right nor allow the enemies to deprive it of such a right. Stephen Knight: Balancing Trade and Environment
- Frustratingly, freeing up global trade also increases the risk of increasing rates of climate change and further reductions in global and local biodiversity. To avoid this risk, the three need to be tied together during decision-making. To a limited extent they are at a research and analysis level, such as with investment in sustainable farming. See... - The thing about writing anything about London, is it's all been written before. Usually by people a lot smarter and more astute than me. Or should that be I? Scoop Full Coverage: The NSA Domestic Spying Scandal
- 2006 began with Mr. Bush brazenly insisting that he can unilaterally order wiretaps on American citizens without judicial oversight, even if warrantless domestic wiretaps are explicitly prohibited by federal law. Under what rationale? Mr. Bush claims the virtually unlimited presidential power to override any laws, and even to cancel our constitutionally-guaranteed civil liberties, because the US is at war.
