Peace - A Bridge to Bright Future
By Kamala Sarup
Any comparison of peace and peace resolutions as a means of examining the relative merits. Such examinations as a means
of historical analysis are fine because they do touch on the moral issue of conflict resolution.
We are examining not "systems", but one aspect of the peace resolutions: the treatment of war affected people and
children. The facts of peace on its morality, its values, and important. With respect to the morality of peace and
resolutions, since all morals are relative, to discuss them is merely to indicate the likes of the peace resolutions.
It is true, conflict is most of the time related to economic crisis. It is not so much about differences in ideologies
when we look at the surface of the conflict. But most of all, it is dealing with differences and destruction in society.
For example, if we look at Ache in Indonesia, it is a very rich region with oil and also various other resources.
Therefore, it is not so much for the political causes or the political values there is conflict there, it is more for
economics they are warring. How to exploit these economic resources, that is where most of the time the conflict starts.
Joergen Klussmann is the director of the Protestant Association for Media and Communications, Germany recently said in
Kathmandu "It is not like that reconciliation that starts after ceasefire or peace talks. Reconciliation is a process
that should start during the conflict itself. It is a way of thinking, believing and confessing on what role we can play
in this conflict.
If we are willing and able to reconcile to show at least some confession and forgiveness, it can be resolved. It is
because in a conflict a victims and perpetuates cannot be divided clearly because most of the times, perpetuates are
victims and victims, on their side, could be also perpetuates".
If the people are deprived of their rights, people have to work together. Working together means to work for the people
and for peace. If all the sides stand on the same platform the solution can be found, if not the country will suffer.
Majority people do not want confrontation but belief and confidence on one another to solve the problems.
Therefore, the concerned people must understand that such a peace policy will save lives and properties. All must rise
above partisan interest. Everyone in the earth has felt an urgent need of holding a lasting peace. On the other hand,
political leaders should not play dirty politics at a time when people are facing death and life situation. Peace is
above than any party politics and no politicians should be guided with vested interest.
Conflict and Nepal
Maoists must stop their killing spree. The innocent and unarmed people including women and children must have a sense
and guarantee of peace.
"The Maoists took advantage of the situation and they started the conflict, which is a mistake. They didn't try to
follow the political way in terms of trying to contribute through the political system and try to follow their targets
and aims in a political way such as politicizing the issues. Their decision was to take arms and to introduce violence.
This is of course a conflict getting out of control. Using arms and creating violence is the first step to create a big
war and very easily then, we forget about our aims and purposes". Joergen further added.
Nepal is currently facing a big challenge to restore peace. We Nepali people hopes that we will cooperate with each
other and to realize a peaceful settlement of the conflict. Peace and security has been disrupted. Peace and security
are prerequisites for the socio-economic development of Nepal.
