Immediately following the Pacific Island Forum plenary last Thursday Scoop caught up briefly with the Rt Hon Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, Prime Minister of PNG, and also Chair of the Forum, to ask him a few brief questions.
Asked about the West Papuan protestors, who were at that stage holding a rally a few hundred yards from the forum venue, Mr Somare said he would be taking up the issue of West Papua directly with the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono when he visits Papua New Guinea in December.
