Humour: Stunning Pre-election Insight Discovered In Scoop Archives

[1] Lyndon Hood has discovered a draft column down the back of his messy desk. It appears to be a set of election predictions jotted down during the last week of campaigning and immediately mislaid. Since nothing of note has happened in politics this week, it is presented unaltered for your reading pleasure. Was he right? You decide – On the last days of campaigning the Labour Government will take a number of well-publicised lefty-friendly ministerial actions, such as releasing dangerous criminals, crippling businesses, condoning immigration and subsidising petrol prices. See... Hood: Election Predictions as of 14 Sep 2005 [2]

The 20-page guide covers the basics from protecting your computer using anti-virus and anti-spyware to tips for online shopping and email use. See... Guide to Keep Kiwis Safe Online [1]

Government Minister's Party Wants to Sit with Opposition
- The Green Party says New Zealand First's demand to sit on the opposition side of the debating chamber is both arrogant and ignorant. New Zealand First MP Peter Brown today said that even though the Greens planned to abstain from giving the Government confidence and supply votes, he believed his party should have first call to sit on the opposition benches. Top Jobs In NZ Signed Up At Govt House -
Beneath an unsmiling portrait of Queen Victoria, a couple of likely lads in the shape of Winston Peters and Peter Dunne made up the numbers for the third successive Labour/Jim Anderton Government. The general vibe of the afternoon was cheery with Mr Peters flashing a magnificent smile as he went up for a handshake with the Governor-General. See... - A report released today by the Wellington People’s Centre says the government is recovering an estimated $60 million of debt against beneficiaries because the Ministry of Social Development has wrongly determined thousands of individuals to be living in relationships in the nature of marriage. This is despite government assurances that the problem has been fixed. See... Govt Still Recovering Millions Of Wrongly Est Debt [1] ALSO: The Ruka Review By Tina McIvor [2]

- "Well, being centrist is being blah from our point of view. I mean, I'm not interested in being a nothing. We want to stand tall on what we believe in. Sometimes those policies are popular; sometimes they're not. And over time, our positions become mainstream. Thirty years ago, if you'd talked wind turbines, people would have laughed at you. What's happening now? Most of the new energy projects are wind energy projects." See... Transcript: BFM's Noelle McCarthy IVs Rod Donald [1]
